LONG FUTURE INSTITUTE

Ensuring the persistence of life

The Long Future Institute is focused on accelerating life through its next evolutionary step; harnessing technological intelligence to ubiquitously spread life throughout the cosmos.

What research actually matters for the preservation of life?

The Long Future Institute carefully curates niche areas of space research that are central to enabling the next evolutionary step for life; spreading into the cosmos. To accelerate the maturation of these pillars, strategic funding is provided to enable focused research or to facilitate the establishment of companies to develop and commercialise them.

What space infrastructure is essential for spreading life beyond Earth?

Nearly all technological advancements driven by the Long Future Institute are integral components of the Institute Missions, serving either as necessary spacecraft subsystems or as demonstration payloads onboard. The Institute Missions serve as pilots for wholly new services or space assets that are essential for expanding life beyond Earth. And they catalyse the creation of spin-off companies to bring these technologies to market for immediate applications, propelling the growth of the space industry in these vital areas.

Is there any endeavour greater than safeguarding the future of life itself?

There is a very real chance that the current and the coming few generations of humanity will be the arbiters for whether life spreads beyond Earth or not. To this end, the Long Future Institute encourages collaboration through an annual conference, partnerships with aligned organisations, interviews with leading figures, and hiring of dedicated researchers.
